Right Location, Wrong Property

Still looking for the next homestead. That house (see previous post) needs too much work.
We are too old to do all the maintenance to get it where we want it. It has too
many barns. Huge barns that we don’t need. One requires removing. But wow, what a pretty
setting, with mature trees and a fenced in yard for the dog.

If I had the money, I would tear the house down and build a 2 bedroom,
2 bath A-frame with a back deck and a loft for my studio. That’s what I would do!

I love camping

nothing like sitting around a campfire until all hours of the night! Skeeter (minus his gal), Scooter and Stretch and I camped out. I bought this modified tear drop trailer because tents are not me anymore. very comfy. but no room for Stella. She slept with Skeeter and Butters and cried all night. Other than the killer heat index it was much needed fun away from home in Gods country aka my 40 acres in the woods. The dogs cooled off in the creek. We took nature hikes. We ate walking tacos. YUM!!!

Black Rock Medival Festival

BR

I went to my first Renaissance Faire. Great fun. We didn’t stay for the Jousting although, if you know me, I love a horse. And a man in shining armour would have made it all that more special but 2.5 hours was enough. I thoroughly enjoyed the birds of prey and we did get to see some shiny men sword fighting. (think WWE with armour)

So yeah, this grizzly dude must have been sweating bullets under there. A sweltering 85 degrees in the shade in Augusta MI that day. I hope to explore a bigger venue in the future. This was my “break in” of Ren Fests.

Oh, We got lost on the way home. So lost that we were going down roads that were narrow and dusty and I thought for sure that some freaky monster was going to jump out and get us. Yep, THAT LOST

ArtPrize 2011

This year I only made it a couple of times, the second, well my friend was more interested in a museum so I didn’t get to see alot of “new” art. Which was ok really, the streets of Grand Rapids were very shoulder to shoulder that Saturday evening.

But what I did see… compared to years past… a little disappointed this year. I was happy with the top ten contenders but the winner. NOPE. Not a fan.

My co-workers entries. Karen’s is a collage of flowers (a flower a day). She kept a blog and took pictures of her progress. People at work started bringing in random things for her creation. I stuck a CD in my microwave and risked killing it to give her something to work with. Very iredessant after cooking a few seconds. It’s the silver, poinsettia looking flower on the right, third from the bottom.

My friend Patricia entered this painting. She hooked up at the same venue as Karen. Kind of an industrial looking building, in a restaurant called Lyons Den. Awesome food by the way.

I suppose the rainbow with the pot of gold would be my favorite. The black and white photo of people taking photos. Too cool. And I took a photo of it! Motion of the skater ROCKS!

I have many more ArtPrize photos but this internet connection is too slow. My only option will run to my sisters house, where fast internet and cable and all things 2011 happen. Unlike the black hole of my Poverty Corner.

Have a great weekend internet. See you soon!

Moon Shadow

ok, a couple of months ago, a friend hooked me up with a guy that actually works for our same company. Without ever meeting this guy, he comes and picks me up on his Harley while 3 other couples on bikes wait at the bottom of my driveway. Homeboy doesn’t have a backrest! I had to hold on to a perfect stranger for 30 minutes until we reached our destination. We had a meal and then headed to the new Casino to listen to my favorite band. With all the noise and people we really didn’t get much conversation going and unfortunately for reasons unknown we just hadn’t hooked up again.

Enter last Saturday. Tricks party at the American Legion. What a gentleman. Tall. And my gawd, I have never EVER been the fat one on a date but this guy is trim as in very thin. I have always been the skinny one! ALWAYS. Then along comes Stretch. I was told he likes to dance but he said he didn’t want to embarrass me and I once again had to shake my legs with the girls. The slow song. Well, hello there skinnier than skinny!

So today we emailed back and forth a bit at work. When when I get home he texts me… “I want to feed you, how long until you are ready?” I say 30 minutes. He says he would be here in 25.

This man loves to eat and knows how to clear a plate! I ordered fish and chips and couldn’t eat it all.

I am on a diet! At work I had a yogurt, an apple and popcorn (95% fat-free) for lunch. He knows I don’t have meals after work. He doesn’t want me skinnier than him, that’s it! So, wow I think we like each other.

Just when “D” and I have started hanging out a bit. As friends. I know, I know. You have to read back about the love of my life that broke my heart more than any other EVER!

“D” has changed. I actually asked him to go to the American Legion thing with me. He said he doesn’t go to “clubs” anymore. We used to have so much fun out dancing. Not a rejection lover, I told him I would find someone else and I did. “D” works from sunup to sundown now. Antisocial bigtime. And to tell you the truth, I really feel sorry for him. He is so stuck in his material world. He has 3 boats now. I actually went with him when he made his last purchase. A big house boat. It’s a fixer upper. He called me last night whining about an 80 yr old man running a red light and t-boning him in his prized beemer. I knew exactly what he was feeling. I am sure it about killed him. He said he thought it was some sort of omen, his car being wrecked. That perhaps he needs to grow up and realize that material things are stupid. HA!!!

So Stretch brings me home tonight and I get my guitar down for him to play. And he played Moon Shadow by Cat Stevens. He didn’t like my cheap Encore, circa 1980something guitar. Plus he has long fingers and had a hard time with it. Can’t wait to hear more… at his house… with a real guitar. I will be seeing him again. After he gets back from a trip to his home town of New Orleans. He leaves Wednesday morning. Unfortunately an unplanned trip for his sister’s husbands funeral. But man ‘o man do I see Mardi Gras in my future?

Tulips done bloomed!!!

Friday evening I filled my vehicle with girlfriends and headed to Holland for what has become an annual event. The Tulip Festival! A mutual friend dutch dances and this year she had both of her kids dressed up as well. Too cute! The bad/sad news was we couldn’t find her! When we finally did, well, she was on her last step. We missed the whole thing and blamed her for the bad directions! It is hard to find her dressed as a boy among all those dancers. They were everywhere and all pretty much look the same from the sidewalk. We actually missed alot. I didn’t even take many pictures this year. Not one of a tulip even…

And of course there were drinks to be had. I had two early on because I made myself designated driver. We did a bit of shopping and I purchased a ring and a birthday present for one of the girls. Pretty cool that she picked it out, loved it, put it back and made the decision she didn’t want to spend the money. So when she wasn’t looking, I did. And bought a little cupcake box to put it in.

Here’s a picture of all of us. My drink of choice was a rum punch. Was very surprised to see it was clear vs. the pinkish orange ones I get at the Red Dock. Oh well, it was good.

We went to the Itty Bitty Bar hoping for a band. There wasn’t. Instead a deejay was spinning disco tunes! The place was packed. Made me feel very old. Most of the people were my sons age. I didn’t dance but everyone else in the group did. Perhaps it was the shoulder to shoulder “kids”, made me a bit nervous as to leave five purses behind for a possible nabbing. I really, REALLY wanted to get a photo of this one “thing” we couldn’t help staring at. “It” had a Steven Tyler profile except I swear the lips were even bigger. Long wavy blonde hair or wig? Huge boobs, very skinny with over done cosmetic surgery. Like way, way over to the point of fugly. One friend said “it” was a girl. I am not taking any bets. “It” sat at the bar and seemed to be alone.

And then I came close to killing all my friends by nearly running a red light. Thankfully the friend riding shotgun said red light… then Red light… then RED LIGHT! By the time I stopped I was almost under the light and on a rail road tracks. That would have been the worst Friday 13th ever!!! In my defence, I was sober but it was raining, my windshield was splattered with bugs and I swear to god I am having big time trouble with night driving. And I was in unfamiliar territory. And there was another traffic light a block away that I did see. Thus I didn’t stop with the first red light warning!!!

Rain. Didn’t really spoil Fridays event although it did rain a bit but the rest of this weekend. WET!

Sure does put me in a bad mood. Well alot of things are putting me in a bad mood lately. Including having to go to work in the morning.

A friend of mine who I haven’t seen in years just changed her location on Facebook to St. Petersburg, Florida. Yeah, her and her hubby most likely have retired early. Lucky bitch!!!

Oh and my youngest, Scooter turned 23 yesterday. Way to make mom feel even older! Happy birthday son… Loves you bunches!!!
